2C-E ‘Where’s the bodyload?’ (tripreport)

The 100 milligram bag of 2C-E powder was lying for more than a year in a drawer in my room before I finally planned an afternoon to try it. Two friends, who are also very experienced psychedelics users, came over to try 2C-E for the first time.

Previous experiences include: 2C-B, 2C-D, 2C-P, LSD, mescaline, 25I-NBOMe, DOC, MDMA, cannabis, ketamine, other stimulants, downers and dissociatives

With my measuring scale I tried to carefully weigh 15 milligrams of the pure white powder and put it in a capsule. This was no easy task to do, because the powder was very fluffy and stuck together like freshly fallen snow. Moreover, most non-professional measuring scales have at least a 3 mg fault range. I was able to verify that the capsules contained somewhere between 15 and 18 milligrams of 2C-E. The purity of the compound was not known, but seemed optimal.

2C-E remained on our bucket list for a long time. We were especially anxious about the bodyload we were expecting. We have heard loads of stories from people not really enjoying their trip because of heavy stomach aches and nausea. When trying other 2C-x compounds we have experienced ourselves how uncomfortable a bodyload can be.

T: -3:00 We were well prepared to deal with any bodyload. Three hours before taking the 2C-E capsules, I ate two wholegrain sandwiches with lettuce, tomatoes, humus and two sandwiches with salmon and cream cheese. After breakfast I didn’t eat anything before ingesting 2C-E, and I think this is very important to avoid heavy bodyload.

T: 0:00 We had the entire day to our disposal, with the option to extend until the next day. The three of us were ready to take the 2C-E capsules at 1.00 PM. We ingested them with some water. After ingesting the capsule I rolled a joint with Acupulco haze and Sticca hash. My friends did not smoke the joint.

T: 0:45 The first sensations of a new psychedelic started to become noticeable. My hands started to become slighty sweaty and I had a distinct, but mild, feeling of a thread pulling the backside of my eyes inwards. My stomach seemed a bit growly, but nothing really uncomfortable was happening there. We decided to drink a cup of ginger hibiscus tea to further decrease the chance of bodyload.

T 1:15 The first visuals are starting to become apparent. At this point it’s nothing more than some slightly exaggerated shadows, and a few spots of brightly blue lights at random points in our sights.  We decided to go to the forest instead of sitting in my room. According to our previous experiences, body movements helps to decrease bodyload.

T 1:20 Some 5 kilometers (or 3 miles) from my house there are beautiful forests. But walking there can take quite some time. So we took our bicycles. I know this seems very dumb, and frankly that’s true, but take into account that I live in The Netherlands and Dutch people do just about anything on their bicycles.

T 1:25 Reaction time is definitely decreased. Engaging in traffic takes a whole lot more of an effort. Peddling the bicycle however seems effortless. I cannot feel my legs, but they are doing their work. Luckily we can use separated bicycle lanes. Dealing with fast moving cars would be too much trouble right now.

T: 1:40 We arrive at a beautiful spot in the forest. I’m happy we can continue on foot and don’t have to deal with other people or traffic any more. It’s a foggy and cold saturday afternoon and there aren’t much other hikers around. The 2C-E is definitely working right now. Colours are way brighter than they were before. All shadows are continuously extending and contracting and colours are bleeding. The fog between red coloured branches appears to be pink. The trunks of trees are constantly growing wide and seem to collect more and more moss in a matter of seconds, just before shedding their new green fur again. This wavy pattern of distortions is much like the visuals you get from mescaline or 2C-P. There were no caleidoscopic figures that crawled over any surface, just like you’d get from LSD or other lysergic-amides.

T: 2:00 After a short walk we decided to sit down on a branch for some time. I smoked a second joint, that I rolled some time earlier, quietly. One friend joined some small puffs with me. The other friend doesn’t ever smoke. I’m starting to reach the peak of the trip. There’s no need to keep a conversation going. I enjoy the silence of the forest. Not even the birds are active right now. The fog seems to damp all sounds. I’m just watching all colours and lines in my sight moving around. But I’m not able to keep my focus at one point.

T 2:30 My friend is starting to feel cold right now. So we decide to walk a bit further through the forest. During the walk I remember Sasha Shulgins qualitative comments on 2C-E in his world-famous book PIHKAL. He writes that 2C-E ‘tends to go towards the negative’, implying a negative thought pattern that is caused by this compound. However, my mind seems to be clear. There are not a lot of thoughts going through my mind. I’m just observing all the enhanced colours and movement around me. And I’m trying to dodge branches that aren’t actually there.

T 3:00 We encounter a crossroads, but we decide to head back. By now, it’s 4.00 PM. And because it’s winter time in the Netherlands, we have only about one hour of daylight left. Moreover, the weather forecast told us it was going to rain heavily at night.

T 3:30 The way back to our bicycles seems to take way longer. We are even doubting we have taken the correct route. But all this is just the time distortion we experience. Just about the time we want to figure out if we’re on the right path, we’re back at the spot where we sat down earlier. Previously I thought I had reached my peak. But still, the effects of the 2C-E are increasing. All shadows move more violently and I can’t figure out any more what colour is actually which. Green seems to be a mix between red, orange, yellow, and green, and so on.

T 4:00 We are back where we parked our bicycles. I’m not really looking forward on continuing our journey on bicycle. The ride to the forest already seemed a bit dodgy, but now I’m tripping twice as hard. I really hope this ends well.

T 4:05 This bicycle ride is the most beautiful I have ever had. The trees along side the bicycle path seem to form a royal hague that encompasses our journey. The sun has started to set. The light falling through the fog gives everything a golden shimmer. Cars are traveling on a separated road next to the trees. The headlights of the cars shine through the open patches between the trees that are carefully placed in a straight line. It seems as though we are riding across a walk of fame and spotlights are shining from all sides.

It’s hard to focus on the roads. The tarmac seems to be perfectly smooth. But when a patch of road comes within a 3 meter (10 foot) range, suddenly pine apples and branches start to appear. It’s very hard to try to avoid any debris. Reaction time is decreased a lot. I don’t dare to take one hand off the steering wheel, or to look to my left or right. I try to focus on the road in front of me, and to enjoy the spectacular lights.

T 4:30 Just before we arrived back home, it has started to poor with rain. The last minute of our bicycle ride we try to go as fast as we can. Luckily we have made it back safely. I really wouldn’t recommend anyone to partake in any traffic whilst on psychedelic drugs. This is definitely not safe.

T 4:45 My friends say they are quite hungry. Luckily I have prepared some pea soup yesterday evening. We just have to warm the soup and we’re ready to eat. I’m still tripping really hard (+++ Shulgin Scale) and it seems hard to complete even this simple task. Eating is nice. A full stomach gives a saturated feeling.

T 5:30 We are back in my room again. We sit down and are talking and laughing the entire time. At one point, I tell my friends about the movie Swiss Army Man. I tell them Daniel Radcliff stars in that movie as a dead body that can be used as a tool for just about anything, just like a swiss army knife. Of course they are having a hard time believing my story. So I show them the trailer of the movie. It has been a long time since we have laughed this hard.

The trip is still going strong (+++). Shadows of paintings in my room are moving violently. The faces of my friends seem to be green at one side and red on the other. Still there is no bodyload. The classic confusion that occurs when you are on psychedelic drugs mostly effects me. I find it hard to express myself in the right manner. Sometimes my sentences are slurred and nothing comprehensible comes out of my mouth. My friends seem to trip a bit less than me. Maybe the cannabis has enhanced the effects. Or maybe my capsule contained just a little more 2C-E. Or maybe I’m more sensitive to this compound, who knows.

T 7:00 Finally I’m starting to come down. We are joking about the ‘pussies’ who warned us about the bodyload of 2C-E. We are wondering if our strategy, not eating several hours before ingesting the drug and drinking some ginger tea, has prevented the bodyload. Or maybe we aren’t really sensitive to a bodyload for this specific 2C-x compound. I think it’s mainly our dieting choice.

A strong headache is starting to appear. It’s a typical headache we have experienced before after ingesting 2C-x compounds. It feels like a large and heavy plate is pressuring the front side of our head. At this point I start to smoke one joint after another. I like the taste and effect of cannabis when coming down on psychedelics.

T 10:00 My friends are going back home. Most of the trip has faded away. There are still some slight visuals, mainly in the form of coloured patterns scattered across white surfaces. I want to go to sleep, but I have a hard time calming down. I keep unconsciously shaking my right foot just like when I drink too much coffee.

Next day: I slept quite well. However it didn’t seem to be a really resting sleep. Maybe it’s because of the amount of cannabis. My friends say they feel just fine and even clear. But I have a slight hangover feeling. That’s no problem though, because I have all sunday to recover from this very beautiful trip. I can see why Shulgin has crowned 2C-E as one of the Magical Half Dozen. 2C-E is definitely my favorite 2C-x compound I have tried so far.
